Ohio State Reformatory Reviews
Mansfield, OH 44905
On a rainy Monday in 2019 .my husband and I took, what we like to call, a " spirit" trip to visit the Mansfield Reformatory. It has been on our bucket list to visit for a long time. It did not disappoint. We loved the history, the architecture, and the experiences. Only a hand full of people around and very quiet. I am an empath, I pick up, and on many occasion have seen, apparitions. My first encounter was in the east wing, top floor of the cell block. I was walking along the front of the cells, alone, and something hit me hard from behind. It threw me to the metal floor. As I stood up I looked behind me to see who was there, no one. It really startled me. I looked into the cell where I fell and saw an image of a tall man, no features, standing there. It didn't take me long to get out of that area. I had many other encounters that day, but that was the one that got to me the most. Go experience it, but try to go on a quiet off day. The spirits will play with you!

As soon as we enter the building ,we were standing at the entrance to look at the scenery when I felt something brushed my very bottom of my pants leg in the inside. I looked around saw nothing and said i do not want to know and went on!

Around Halloween I went to the prison for the haunted house tour. Upon entering, I could just sense something. I was amazed at the history of this place. And I honestly couldn't care less about the "boo" parts. I wanted to feel the bars as I ran my fingers across the bar. In a sense, feeling those prisoners pain & greif. The mess hall, where I'm sure, fights broke out.
So as the tour continues, we approach death row. Again, not suppose to touch anything, I did. I remember a flying witch coming at me. And my reaction was to drop to the floor. At that moment, with the group many steps ahead of me. I had a voice whisper in my ear. WATCH... There was absolutely no one around me. Talk about crapping your pants. I about did. But I was so happy to experience it. And I'll keep going back every year.

I live 15 mins from there. I've been there, in October they use it as a haunted house & ive gone to that. I've seen what looked like ghostly figures, but never been touched by any or bothered by any. They use to do where you could have a group of people & you pay so much & you can spend the night in there. They lock you in at a certain time then in the morning they come let you out. I've never done this, and idk if they still do it, but I bet it would b a real neat experience.
