This bridge is now closed and is reportedly haunted day and night by a crying baby. It has been said that the baby when missing when its parents were fighting, and it fell over the side of the bridge. The sound of its screaming mother can also be heard in the area, along with the babies cries. In 2010, the bridge was in the news after an elderly woman was found strangled and burned to death nearby.

  • Long time Salem recident

I was born and raised in Salem Ohio . I've heard stories about the bridge off of Egypt Rd since I was a kid . During the eighties a lot of cult activity went on in the woods on Egypt Rd .My dad use to have to go out there an pull cars out of the creek that went off the road where the bridge is . I used to go on wrecker calls with him out there as a kid . Believe me even then you could tell there was something way off an creepy about that part of the woods. It always felt like you were being watched . I remember one time I went with my dad on a wrecker call . My dad was helping the people out of their car that went off the road and got stuck. I was standing off the side of the road on the other side of the bridge. Next thing I heard the wreaker shift in to gear by itself. I screamed at my dad that the wrecker was moving by itself. Before he could stop it it drove into the side of the bridge. It scared me so bad that I never went with my dad to another wrecker call on that road again. This happened when the road the bridge is on was still open.
